Neurology IV / Neurosurgery, Tuttlingen / Germany, 12 - 14 October 2012 held
Course Master: Prof. Dr. Franck Forterre (CH)
OVERVIEW
This 2012 Neurology course is primarily designed for veterinarians who participated at the Neurology-Neurosurgery Course III. The course will mainly focus on neurosurgical patients and neurosurgery. The course will be divided into a video-based and a practical part.
The video-based part will deal with entire clinical cases, including primary examination (video), further investigations including diagnostic imaging procedures (images), surgery (video), follow up and possible complications (video).
In this manner lecturers expect to illustrate the variety of treatment options for neurosurgical patients in a practical way („real life neurology“).
The practical part of the course will give the participants, organized in small groups, the opportunity to develop their neurosurgical skills on cadavers.
This part has two main goals:
1. To improve the own surgical skills by dealing with problems encountered during conventional surgery in practice.
2. To perform new and more complicated procedures.
The main idea of the course is to allow the participants to solve cases on their own, not only clinically but also diagnostically as well as therapeutically.
Neuroimaging and neurosurgical specialists will be supporting in solving and discussing the cases in an interactive fashion.
In contrast to the previous neurology courses, only few theoretical lectures will be held and the main focus will be to work in small groups.
