DAY 1 - Gastro-intestinal surgery

  • Basic techniques in abdominal and gastro-intestinal surgery:
    - How to open and close the abdominal wall
    - Gastro-intestinal tract: Surgical anatomy
    - Gastro-intestinal surgery: Basic knowledge (from stomach to colon)
    - Gastrotomy, gastropexy
    - Intestinal biopsies and enterotomy
    - Enterectomy and end-to end anastomosis

  • Colotomy, Colectomy, Colopexy

    DAY 2 - Urinary tract surgery

  • Basic techniques in urinary tract surgery
    - Urinary tract: surgical anatomy
    - Basic techniques in the upper urinary tract. Cystotomy, cystorraphy, Urohydropulsion techniques, Nephro-nephrectomy
    - Urinary tract obstruction: Current knowledge on urinary tract calculi.
    - Clinical cases

  • Scrotal urethrostomy dog
  • Perineal urethrostomy cat

    DAY 4 - Skin reconstruction surgery

    - Wound management: From the fresh wound to the granulation tissue
    - Surgical anatomy
    - Basic reconstructive techniques: Local and distant flaps
    - Axial pattern flaps: The first steps

  • Choosing the right closure method
  • An introduction to laser surgery
    13.00 - 14.00 Lunch break
    14.00 - 17.00 Laboratory:
  • The H Plasty
  • Distant flap

    DAY 5 - Abdomen: Miscellaneous

    09.00 - 11.00 Lectures:
  • Surgical applications: the intensive patients
  • Anesthesia and pain management of the intensive abdominal patient
  • How to deal with peritonitis
    11.00 - 11.30 Pause
    11.30 - 13.00 Special lecture:
  • An introduction to mini-invasive surgery
    13.00 - 14.00 Lunch break
    14.00 - 17.00 Laboratory:
  • Mini-invasive surgery / laboratory
  • Clinical cases in small groups
