This oral & maxillo-facial surgery course will cover the following topics:
Oral soft tissue medicine and surgery
1. To understand salivary diseases
2. To master salivary mucocoele treatment and salivary gland removal
3. To understand tongue and lip diseases
4. To master partial glossectomy
5. To master lip surgery (lip fold, vestibuloplasty)
Oral hard tissue medicine and surgery
1. To understand treatment principles of jaw fractures
2. To understand treatment principles of palatal surgery
3. To master non surgical treatments of jaw fractures
4. To master flap techniques for palatal surgery
Oral Neoplasms
1. To master oral tumour classification
2. To understand the biology of oral neoplasms
3. To master the treatment principles of oral neoplasms
4. To master mandibulectomy
5. To master maxillectomy
Oral medicine and surgery
1. Salivary glands: Saliva, salivary diseases, salivary gland surgery
2. Lips, tongue and palatal mucosa: Examination and diseases, cheiloplasty, glossectomie
3. Pharyngeal examination: Ooropharyngeal area and tonsillar diseases, nasopharyngeal diseases, endoscopic assessment
4. Swallowing disorders: Oral and pharyngeal origins, muscular origin, osteoarticular origin
5. Regional anatomy and craniofacial imaging: radiographs, CT scan, RMI
6. Special care: Tracheostomy, pharyngostomy, tube feeding
Jaw disorders
1. TMJ diseases: Clinical presentations, treatment of luxations, treatment of ankylosis
2. Jaw fractures: Epidemiology, biomechanical considerations, treatment options, materials, osteosynthesis, splints
3. Palatal defects: Clinical presentations, surgical techniques, prosthetic techniques
4. Oral neoplasms: Classification, biological behaviour, diagnosis, lymph node assessment, treatment, medical support
