Veterinary dentistry course: periodontology, feline stomatology, restorative dentistry, endodontics.


TOPICS

Periodontology:
1. To understand the place of surgery in the periodontal treatment plan.
2. To understand the consequences on periodontal healing of surgical procedures.
3. To understand and master the most common surgical procedures (gingivectomy, access flap, apically positioned flap)

Feline stomatology:
1. To have a thorough understanding of oral feline pathology
2. To understand the difference between periodontal disease and “feline stomatitis”
3. To understand the concept of “feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions”
4. To master dental extractions in cats.

Restorative dentistry:
1. To understand the difference between high and slow speed
2. To master the use of the slow speed handpiece for cavity preparation (training on plastic blocks)
3. To master the use of high speed handpiece handpiece for tooth sectioning and tooth access to the pulpal chamber
4. To understand the modern concept of cavity preparation
5. To understand and master the use of different restorative materials
6. To understand the rational of partial vital pulpectomy and pulp capping procedures.
7. To master partial vital pulpectomy and pulp capping procedures in immature teeth.

Endodontics:
1. To understand pathogenesis of pulpal and periapical infections
2. To understand the rationality of root canal treatment
3. To master the names and uses of root canal instruments
4. To master coronal access to pulpal chamber
5. To master root canal catheterism on each canine tooth.
6. To practice conventional root canal treatment on an incisor tooth
