Nico Schoemaker, DVM, PhD (NL)
Nico Schoemaker is a staff veterinarian at the Division of Avian and Exotic Animal Medicine from Utrecht University who graduated and did all his professional training at that same University. Following graduation he did an internship in companion animal medicine, followed by a residency in avian medicine and surgery. He is a diplomate of the European College of Avian Medicine and Surgery (ECAMS), a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Specialization (ABVP) certified in avian medicine, and a Dutch avian specialist. The specialization was followed by a PhD study concerning hyperadrenocorticism in ferrets. He has written numerous articles on avian and ferret related subjects, and has spoken on many conferences, workshops and post graduate courses.
