Neurology IV - Neurosurgery, Tuttlingen / Germany, 11 - 15 September 2017 Course Fully Booked - Waiting List Open

Principal Course Master: Prof. Dr. Franck Forterre DECVS (CH)

OVERVIEW

This Neurology course is primarily designed for those who participated at the Neurology-Neurosurgery Courses I and II. The course will mainly focus on neurosurgical patients and neurosurgery. The course will be divided into a lecture (Monday and Tuesday) and a practical part (Wednesday-Thursday-Friday). The lectures will provide the participants the necessary theoretical knowledge to understand and to perform high quality neurosurgery. This part is constructed in an interactive fashion and allows in depth discussions. The practical days are divided in video-based cases presentations and a neurosurgical Wetlab.

The video-based part will deal with entire clinical cases, including primary examination (video), further investigations including diagnostic imaging procedures (images), surgery (video), follow up and possible complications (video).
In this manner lecturers expect to illustrate the variety of treatment options for neurosurgical patients in a practical way („real life neurology“).

The practical part of the course will give the participants, organized in small groups, the opportunity to develop their neurosurgical skills on cadavers.

This part has two main goals:

1. To improve the own surgical skills by dealing with problems encountered during conventional surgery in practice.

2. To perform new and more complicated procedures.

The main idea of the course is to allow the participants to solve cases on their own, not only clinically but also diagnostically as well as therapeutically.
Neuroimaging and neurosurgical specialists will be supporting in solving and discussing the cases in an interactive fashion.

In contrast to the previous neurology courses, only the first two days will consist in interactive theoretical lectures and the main focus will be placed on practical work in small groups during the last 3 days.
