OVERVIEW

Over the past decade, our knowledge of cancer in animals has increased rapidly. More and more veterinarians and clients are becoming open-minded about treating canine and feline cancer patients.
“Oncology II” will build up on Oncology I (2013) introducing more advanced concepts in oncology and covering a wide variety of tumours (see below). As in Oncology I, there will be a major focus on interactive and case oriented work using a systematic approach to the cancer patient including recognizing symptoms, interpreting radiographic findings, choosing correct staging procedures and formulating a therapeutic plan.

“Oncology II” includes the following topics (preliminary):

  • Lower respiratory tumours
  • Surgical treatment of thoracic tumours
  • Mesothelioma and intra-cavitary chemotherapy
  • Tumours of the eye and adnexal structures
  • Tumors of the ears
  • Nasal tumours and other upper respiratory tumours
  • Tumours of the head & neck
  • Oral tumours
  • Salivary gland tumours
  • Melanomas
  • Immunotherapy (incl. tumour vaccines)
  • COX-Inhibitors
